You already saw your child’s love for the water early on, so enrolling him in swimming lessons was an easy decision. The next question is: what exactly should you pack for his first class? Here are four essentials that should be on your list:

  • Swimsuit. This is a given, and you should invest in a good-quality swimsuit that fits your child properly. Remember that swimsuits should fit snugly to avoid any wardrobe malfunctions while your child is in the water. But your child’s swimsuit shouldn’t also be too tight to limit his movements while swimming.
  • Swim robe and towel. You might not think that you need this, but you absolutely do. Swimming lessons can last for an hour or more, which means that your child will be in the water for a long time. Having a kids beach robe handy will ensure that your child can stay warm after he gets out of the water. Of course, he will also need a towel to dry up after his swimming lessons.
  • Swim cap and goggles. Investing in good-quality goggles is a must because it allows your child to see clearly underwater while keeping chlorine out of his eyes. Goggles also help to keep your child focused on his swimming techniques by being more aware of his surroundings. Of course, your child should also wear a quality swim cap to keep his hair out of his face while swimming.
  • Bath essentials. Spending a lot of time in the water exposes your child to chlorine. This is why it is very important to bring some bath essentials that he can use to shower after his swimming lessons. These include shampoo, conditioner and body wash that will help to remove all the chlorine in his hair and skin to prevent any irritation.

As a bonus, you need to pack some snacks and water. Although swimming looks like a more relaxing sport, it is still a sport that uses up a lot of your child’s energy. So you can expect that your child will be famished after swimming for an hour. Bringing some snacks will help to feed that hunger, and a bottle of water will keep him hydrated throughout his lessons.
